This video features Dominik Bisslich, Co-Founder of Opaix GmbH, a German start-up and one of the SMEs involved in Europe's Chips Strategy. Opaix focuses on workforce development and skills in the semiconductor industry, with additional expertise in ontologies and multi-party computation. Through its "Sustainable Excellence" approach, it has trained more than 1,000 professionals in over 10 countries.
Bisslich explains that the company joined the Alliance because semiconductors are a core technology for meeting Europe's, and the world's, climate, digitalisation and decarbonisation goals. Europe may lag in some skills today, but it has a strong base to build on, and Opaix aims to help strengthen it.
Looking ahead, he hopes the Alliance will engage smaller companies as well as the large ones already involved, since innovation can only be driven collectively.
